| Qigong Instructor Qigong (pronounced “chee gong”) originated from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is a system practiced for health maintenance, healing and increased vitality. “Qi”, as described on my Science of Energy Medicine page, is “life force energy” or “vital energy” and “gong” means a skill or a practice that is cultivated. Qigong integrates graceful movements (postures and exercises), breathing techniques, and focused intentions. There are various aspects of Qigong that are broadly described as internal and external. Internal Qi is the life force energy that exists within all people. If a person has low internal Qi, for example, she/he will be prone to sickness or dis-ease. External Qi is the life force energy that includes the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the environment. Once external Qi is absorbed, it becomes internal Qi. In TCM, good health is a result of a well-balanced, free-flowing energy system. Qigong, practiced regularly, helps to cleanse the body of toxins, restores energy, reduces stress and anxiety, helps people maintain a healthy lifestyle, and assists with the integration of mind, body, and spirit. My current Qigong instructor certification is the Level III Workshop Facilitator, that I obtained through the Supreme Science Qigong Center (SSQC). Additionally, SSQC teaches an integrated approach of Qigong exercise with “Food-Based Healing.”. This coming fall, I will be going through their facilitator training to promote this combined system of health and wellness. Please visit their website for additional information: www.Qigong.com. I am very excited about this integrated approach to Qigong because it imparts a complete program that can offer health and wellness to all people of all ages and belief systems! I am available to teach both group and private lessons of the Level I-III forms and also other Qigong and breath work forms. The SSQC describes the Level I form as follows.
